Crate Crate!

It has finally arrived. Now I must assemble it making the least amount of noise as to not scare Louis. After I finish putting it together I plan on spending a fair amount of time laying about inside it. Pictures to come.

My Mane

I went to get my annual haircut last week. They were a little busy so I had some time to flip through a magazine aptly titled, "Haircuts." I thought to myself, "Hooray! now I can actually show these fools a picture instead of throwing caution to the wind and hoping everything turns out daisies!" BUT I WAS DEAD WRONG. I found a picture of a nice young lady with a haircut that looked simple and long so I gave the magazine to the woman and pointed, saying, like this. She led me to the chair, put the magazine on the back counter and proceeded to cut off most of my hair. First she pulled it back into a ponytail and I wasn't sure what was going on, but then I felt, snip-snip-snip, and then saw her holding a hefty chunk of my hair, Locks-of-Love style, in her hand. I felt aghast as to what had just happened, but there was nothing that could be done. Needless to say, my haircut did not turn out the way I had planned and I no longer have my flowing mane that took me years to grow to the length I was accustomed to. It was a frustrating experience to say the least, but at least it only cost $12. Besides, it's only hair and unless I have some sort of sudden rapid hair loss, it will grow back...I keep telling myself that anyway.

Farewell Poppy

Poppy is in the process of being shipped off to Canada. She will be missed for the same reasons I missed Kip: baby cradlin'.
4 day weekend has commenced!

Valentine

Dear X-ray pants,
Will you be mine? I will love you forever and never a grass stain shall you meet.

Love,
me

Is it crazy that I would wear Adidas all day every day if I could? Particularly the Jeremy Scott thingamajigs....you win this time Adidas marketing, well done.

Blood

My new hobby is making doggy clothes for Poppy. Her recent trip to the groomers has left her practically hairless so she needs a few extra layers, even in the house. Also, she's been bleeding wherever she sits or sleeps. I looked up dog "periods" and apparently it's possible. She doesn't act like she's in heat, whatever that looks like, so I'm slightly concerned. She goes back to the vet today so maybe I'll try to ask him about it through a series of gestures and broken Korean/English.
Me: (pointing at you know what) 피....어디나
Now that i think about it, saying 'blood everywhere' doesn't exactly paint the right picture. Perhaps it is just her menses.

My coteacher left a bag of...I guess they're most like chips....on my desk and I felt compelled to eat them, but now I'm filled with regret.

T-Rex to a T-Rachel

I have watched Ice Age 2 exactly four times now since vacation.
My favorite part-
Sid: It's a boy!
Diego: That's its tail.
Sid: It's a girl!
Gets me every time. Also, Sid yelling "stranger danger! stranger danger!" Brings me straight back to grade school talking 'bout good touch bad touch.

Oh my glob! Doctor Who just finished downloading!!!!!!! I never saw it pre-David Tennant so I'm a little excited.

When I walk Louis at night I let him run loose and chase me for a bit so he gets some running out of his system. This time he ran too far away from me, up a hill and into another parking lot. When he didn't come when I called, I ninja'd my way up to catch him and I realized he was hovering over a dead cat. It looked so sad, probably died because it was too cold since it didn't look starved, smushed, or sickly. Just a plain old cat lain out on the side of the road. It made me feel really sad because if I had found it I could have helped. Winter is the worst.

Uhh...

Some sort of alarm is going off right now and my coteacher isn't in the room... I hope there isn't a fire as I sit here listening to podcasts and looking at clothes online because that would be the worst death ever.
I don't hear any screaming...I guess I should go look to see if anything is happening that I should concern myself with.
...
After peering out the window and seeing only two children meandering here and there, I decided there was nothing to worry about.
Today I am wearing elastic waist pants. They're business casual, not of the sweatpant variety, but I have found extreme delight with them. For one, I have zero anxiety about whether or not I need to XYZ, if you know what I mean. That lifts so much weight off my shoulders I have time for more important things like...like...finding pictures like this:

D'Oh!

Being an adult is hard. I thought school started today, but as I roamed the empty hallways it occurred to me that perhaps I got the dates wrong. After a quick text to my coteacher I was in fact mistaken and school starts tomorrow...a Friday. One more day of lounging and then it will be back to the grindstone for another two weeks. I have no idea what is in store for me because some classes have finished the books and then some have not. There is actually only one full week of school and then three days into the next. On the bright side of today, getting up and at 'em actually motivated me to send off the thank-you cards I had been putting off sending since the post office is so so far (read: 15 minute bus ride).

I've been taking Poppy to the vet once a week these days because she has a bladder infection and the doctor looks into her cataract eye forever, giving me various ointments and drops to administer each day. It recently snowed like...2 inches or so making it...unbearable for me to walk to the vet. Since I don't have a carrier for Poppy I stuff her into a duffle bag which actually works quite well. I put a delectable treat inside so she doesn't seem to mind. Sometimes she'll pop her head out of the hole I leave open for air, but usually she just hunkers down inside.

What with everything winding down I'm becoming ever more anxious about the upcoming year. It will be muy challenging and I don't feel entirely prepared to face everything....actually at all. I really wish that at the end of this nightmare of the past three years, I could have a nice long real vacation somewhere warm and relaxing instead of having to fight my way back into the workforce. Best advice on this matter: If wishes and buts were clusters of nuts, we'd all have a bowl of granola.
