I wish I understood more Korean so I could watch Project Runway Korea and actually know what's going on other than they're making clothes.
I saw a little girl playing in the street with a plastic hula-hoop and a stick. She looked like she was having the time of her life. I've seen her outside my apartment a few times and she's absolutely fascinated by Jake. Tonight she noticed me after I had passed and she said, "oooooh! HEL-LO."
I had been secretly hoping that Soju wouldn't have the same affect on me as every other alcohol since, you know, it's Korean and I'm sort of Korean. But no luck. After 2 and a half shots last night I was ready to pass out. Maybe I just need to drink weaker stuff. I remember drinking this raspberry beer from Belgium one summer which didn't make me quite as sick and I drank a whole bottles worth!
It's time to seriously buckle down and start making some friends here. I get so nervous meeting new people that I clam up and bore everyone to death. I got in touch with someone that is willing to help me with my Korean, but when it came down to actually meeting her in person I chickened out. My dreams of blossoming into a fit, stylish, interesting woman is going to be harder to attain than I had anticipated. I've been thinking a lot about what Jake has to say on the matter and I finally realize it's all a matter of effort. I suppose that's true with every aspect of life though. The amount of effort I put in will ultimately affect everything I get out of this experience. Right now I've been having this Surly Sally attitude about changing my style/wardrobe, but in the long run developing a better sense of fashion will do nothing but good for me. I need to make peace with the change and put to rest the tomboy look I have come to love so dearly. I'm a lady dammit!!
This week was probably the most exhausting so far. I thought that I was being paid overtime for the Saturdays my co-teacher insisted that I needed to come in for, but turns out I'm not supposed to work on Saturdays at all! Now I need to figure out how to, as politely as possible, tell her she was wrong.
