A small girl is obsessed with me. Everyday she comes to my office and tries to talk and touch me. I wouldn't mind so much if she didn't ask the exact same questions in exactly the same way despite how I try to correct her.
"Kari...house...4:30?"
-Yes, I go home everyday at 4:30.
"Kari...boyfriend Jake...meet?"
-Yes, I meet my boyfriend everyday after school.
"Kari, what are you doing?"
-I'm working.
"Kari, what do you do yesterday?"
-I pooped in a hole behind my house.
"I'm sorry, Korean please."
Aside from that last part, I've told her these things everyday, and I repeat that the same thing happens everyday. EVERYDAY. I even told her in Korean, 매일, everyday. I know I probably shouldn't get so annoyed with her because she's just a child, but c'mon! She's 13 years old...shouldn't she be off doing whatever 13 year old girls do?? I feel like she's well beyond the age of fauning over a teacher. I think she's terribly confused because she keeps talking to me in Korean as though I'm supposed to understand her. Or she'll say a word and ask me to say it in English even though I have no idea what she's saying. This could go on and on all day long if I let it. She doesn't like to be in my office when my co-teacher is, which is most of the time, but I think she hangs out waiting for her to leave and then will pop in the room. It's her piercing, "KARI!!" that makes me cringe everytime I dare to trespass the hallways after class hours. For some reason her voice is at a pitch that none of the other students seem to feel the need to reach. I need a nap.
lol... that brings me back! Although most of my obsessive students were younger... gosh, they were so upset when I was leaving! Oh, and all the kids were obsessed with Jason. For months and months and months!

2 things. congrats on entering the wild blogsphere. Secondly, I want to applaud you at your name. Strand and Deliver is very clever.
ReplyDeleteConsider this also. "Kariosity Killed the Cat." Or something like that....which just reminded me, don't you own a cat?
